Indian home loan program expands in three states
Tuesday, April 26, 2005

The Department of Housing and Urban Development has approved the expansion of an Indian home loan program to cover Minnesota, Michigan and Indiana.

Members of four tribes who live off reservations and trust lands can now apply for the Section 184 program. The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe of Minnesota, the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians of Michigan, the Bay Mills Indian Community of Michigan and the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa applied for the expansion.

The Bush administration has already approved similar requests to cover tribal members in Arizona, Florida and Wisconsin.
