Penobscot Nation to sell prescription drugs

The Penobscot Nation of Maine is getting ready to launch a business that will offer discount prescription drugs through the mail.

PIN Rx will launch by mid-August, The Portland Press Herald reported. It will offer discounts of up to 30 percent for people in the public programs such as MaineCare and Maine Rx Plus in addition to employees of participating businesses. Medicaid beneficiaries will be able to join by January 2006, the paper said.

The tribe will not be importing drugs from Canada as some have suggested. Instead, the tribe will buy from drug wholesalers.
