DOI spends $30K to produce glossy report on trust

The Interior Department spent $30,000 to produce a glossy, 24-page brochure on the Indian trust fund, the Associated Press reports.

The brochure was prepared after the July 26 Senate Indian Affairs Committee hearing on Cobell v. Norton and trust reform. In it, the Bush administration says few errors have been found in the Individual Indian Money (IIM) trust.

"This picture is significantly different from that offered by Interior's critics," Secretary Gale Norton states, the AP reported.

The report was prepared for members of Congress and hasn't been made public.
