Abramoff Scandal
Lobbying firm linked to Choctaws to close shop

A lobbying firm that worked with the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians is closing shop amid reports that it is under federal scrutiny, The Washington Post reports.

Alexander Strategy Group [Web Site] was founded by Edwin A. Buckham, a former chief of staff to Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Texas). He said it was "difficult to continue as a lobbying/political entity" due to reports about the firm's ties to DeLay and confessed felon Jack Abramoff.

Abramoff reportedly referred clients to ASG, and both shared the Choctaws as clients, according to The Post. The Choctaws also gave $250,000 to a grassroots organization run by Buckham.

Tony Rudy, who is labeled "Staffer A" in Abramoff's guilty plea, worked at the firm after working with Abramoff. Rudy is DeLay's former deputy chief of staff. DeLay's wife, Christine, also worked at ASG.
