Cobell addresses trust fund mismanagement

Elouise Cobell, the lead plaintiff in the Indian trust fund case, spoke to students at Moorpark College in California.

Cobell was the first speaker for the college's new Distinguished Speaker Series. She told an audience of about 300 students of her struggle to seek an accounting of billions in Indian trust funds.

"There was money paid and nobody knew where it was going. No one ever held the government accountable," she said, The Ventura County Star reported.

The case was filed in 1996. A bill pending in Congress would settle the lawsuit but there is no agreement on a dollar amount.
