Governor to meet with Ramapough Tribe
Wednesday, April 19, 2006
New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine (D) is meeting with the Ramapough Lenape Indian Nation today in response to the fatal shooting of a tribal member by a state park police officer.
Emil Mann was buried last Friday at a funeral attended by more than 1,000 people. He died on April 1, two days before his 45th birthday.
Tribal leaders and the county prosecutor have faulted the state park police for their handling of the incident. An investigation by the state attorney general is underway.
