Rep. Ney defiant after ex-staffer pleads guilty

Rep. Bob Ney (R-Ohio) told fellow Republicans on Wednesday that he has no plans to resign and will fight allegations that he was part of a corruption scheme, The Hill newspaper reports.
Ney received a standing ovation for his remarks, The Hill said. But some said it was only a matter of time before he is indicted.
"Dead man walking," one Republican lawmaker said after the meeting, the paper reported.
Ney's former staffer, Neil Volz, pleaded guilty on Monday and implicated his former boss in a wide range of tribal matters. Volz left Ney's office to work with Jack Abramoff.
