Judge orders new plan for salmon on Snake River

A federal judge on Tuesday ordered the Bush administration to come up with a new plan that will address the impact of irrigation projects and dams in the Snake River Basin.
U.S. District Judge James Redden said the government failed to address the impact of projects and dams on the recovery of salmon. Tribes and environmentalists have called for the removal of the dams in order to save the fish.
Idaho's Congressional delegation said the ruling threatens to upset the Nez Perce Tribe's water rights settlement on the Snake River. The tribe issued a statement saying it wants to address the impact of irrigation projects and dams on the salmon.
