Tribal member named to North Dakota higher ed board

Charles Murphy, the former chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, has been named to the North Dakota Board of Higher Education.

Murphy was one of two tribal members who were being considered for two open seats. He will join the board in July.

Murphy has served as chairman of Sitting Bull College and as president of the United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck. He was chairman of his tribe for a total of 18 years.
