House Resources Committee hearing on tribal bills

The House Resources Committee's Water and Power subcommittee is holding a hearing this Wednesday on five bills, including two tribal measures.

H.R.3558 amends the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Equitable Compensation Act to provide compensation to members of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe for damage resulting from the Oahe Dam and Reservoir Project. The bill makes some changes to the way the tribe's $290 million trust fund is handled.

H.R.5299 revise a provision relating to a repayment obligation of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation under the Fort McDowell Indian Community Water Rights Settlement Act of 1990. A copy of the bill has not yet been posted in Thomas, the Congressional database.

The hearing will be broadcast over the Internet at http://resourcescommittee.house.gov
