Aroostook Band closes clinic and lays off employees

The Aroostook Band of Micmacs in Maine abruptly shut down its health clinic and laid off about 40 employees this week.
The tribe cited financial difficulties. But some of the 1,000 members blame Chief William Phillips for mismanagement.
Phillips is on sick leave. He has served as chief for seven years but critics want him removed because he hasn't showed up for work and missed meetings. He was suspended without pay in July.
