Lawyers in Native abuse case due another $10M

The Canadian government has promised attorneys an additional payment of up to $10 million for their work on the Native residential school abuse settlement.

The attorneys already stand to gain upwards of $100 million. One law firm alone could get $25 million while a group of firms could get $40 million.

The government is offering to settle abuse cases for $1.9 billion in payments to elders, survivors and former students. The attorney fees come out of the settlement.
