The Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City welcomed World War II veterans, their families and their descendants to a preview of the new Code Talkers exhibit.
"Hidden Voices, Coded Words" opens today. It features the stories of Comanche, Choctaw, Cheyenne, Cherokee, Osage, Meskwaki/Sac and Fox and other soldiers who used their languages to pass secret codes.
The traveling exhibit will be on display until January 15.
A bill in Congress would recognize the Native Code Talkers. The National Congress of American Indians is urging its passage during the lame-duck session.
