Mel Gibson attends Cabazon Band powwow

Actor Mel Gibson attended the powwow held by the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians on Saturday evening.
Gibson met with tribal leaders before the grand entry. His publicist said it was his "first-ever" powwow.
Cabazon Chairman John James said Gibson was a nice guy. "It was difficult to hold a conversation with all the drumming going on. But he did tell me he'd just finished production of a movie about the Mayan civilization, and invited me to the opening," James told The Palm Springs Desert Sun.
The movie, "Apocalypto," opens December 8. Gibson screened the film for Indian audiences in Oklahoma in September.
