Tohono O'odham Nation kicks off annual rodeo and fair

The Tohono O'odham Nation of Arizona kicks off its 69th annual rodeo and fair today.

The three-day event takes place in Sells. It features a rodeo, parade, fun run, powwow, carnival, performances, dances, vendors and food.

This year's rodeo is dedicated to the memory of two tribal members. Eugene P. Tashquinth Sr. was the longtime rodeo announcer and Silas R. Hendricks was on the rodeo committee for more than 30 years.

The tribe will name its rodeo complex for Tashquinth and the memorial arena for Hendricks.
