Mashantucket Tribe is top taxpayer in town

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is once again the top taxpayer in the town of Ledyard, Connecticut.

The tribe's off-reservation properties were assessed by the town at $40.58 million. That's $5 million more than the second highest taxpayer.

The tribe is currently locked in taxation dispute with the town. The town has imposed property taxes on slot machines that are leased to the tribe.
