Shadow Wolves seek to expand all-Native border unit

The Shadow Wolves, an all-Native unit of officers who patrol the Tohono O'odham Nation, is seeking to expand its ranks.
The unit, created by Congress in 1972, currently has 15 members. By law, it can grow to 21 officers.
Additionally, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which oversees the Shadow Wolves, is seeking to create a similar unit on the Blackfeet Nation in Montana. The reservation borders Canada.
The Shadow Wolves seize about 100,000 pounds of drugs every year. Their skills are in high demand -- the unit has been asked to train U.S Border Patrol agents and law enforcement agencies overseas.
