Alaska Native corporation posts record profit

Doyon Ltd., an Alaska Native regional corporation posted a record profit in fiscal year 2006.

The corporation earned $18.9 million on $96.7 million in revenue. It was the 22nd year of profitability, Doyon chief executive Orie Williams said.

Revenues were up 17 percent from 2005, with profits up 36 percent. The news came as shareholders voted to issue new stock to certain descendants and award new stock to elders when they turn 65.
