Sisseton-Wahpeton boxer chases Olympic dreams

Wahacanka Wilch, a member of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe, is hoping to take his dream of boxing to the Olympics.

Wilch, 19, is one fight away from the U.S. Championships this June. If he wins there, he will qualify for the 2008 U.S. Olympic team.

"It's me representing my tribe and my people," Wilch told The Sioux City Journal.

Wilch, whose Indian name Wahacanka means "good war shield" said he hopes to serve as a role model for Native youth.
