New York tobacco revenue sharing bill introduced

New York lawmakers have introduced legislation to split tobacco revenues collected on reservations.

The state says it will collect $200 million taxes on the sale of tobacco and gasoline to non-Indians. The bill would return some of the revenue to the tribes.

But tribes aren't interested in a deal. They say the state has no right to impose taxes on reservations.
