Methodist churches in Oklahoma host powwow

Four Methodist churches in Oklahoma hosted a powwow on Saturday to celebrate their Indian and Christian faiths.

Rev. Glenn "Chebon” Kernell Jr. said the powwow shows how Indian beliefs can co-exist in the Christian church. He contrasted it to the missionary experience, which "demonized" tribal cultures.

The powwow, hosted, by the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference of the United Methodist Church, took place at Oklahoma City University.
