Assembly of First Nations meets to discuss 'crisis'

The Assembly of First Nations meets today and tomorrow in Quebec for a policy forum to discuss the "crisis" facing Native people in Canada.

Leaders will discuss inadequate funding, land claims, poverty, health care and a national day of action on June 29. They plan to draft a statement on the crisis on reserves.

AFN Chief recently said Native communities have reached the "breaking point" over Canada's failure to live up to its promises. Unresolved land claims and other issues have led to protests by Native activists and leaders.
