Editorial: Hundreds of years of neglect on land claims

"Aboriginal leaders stated if governments are serious about adopting recommendations in the report, they should work to improve the daily life in their communities, particularly for youth.

While supporting the creation of a dedicated minister and a provincial treaty commission, aboriginal leaders want the federal government to create an independent body to study and settle land claims - separate from the government itself.

Hundreds of years of neglect on land claim issues must end. That would honour the life and death of Dudley George."
