Meskwaki Tribe plans $21M expansion of school

The Meskwaki Tribe of Iowa has begin construction on a $21 million expansion of the Bureau of Indian Affairs school on the reservation.

The project will more than double the size of the Meskwaki Settlement School. The tribe is picking up $17 million of the cost, with the BIA providing $4 million.

The Meskwaki Settlement School opened in 2001 as a replacement for one that was built in 1938. About 200 students from kindergarten through grade 12 attend.
