Mashantucket museum hosts powwow exhibit

The museum owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut is hosting a powwow exhibit.

The "50 Years of Powwow" exhibit opens on Sunday at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center. It features photographs and clothing to document the history of powwows in Chicago.

The American Indian Center of Chicago, in conjunction with the Field Museum in Chicago, collected 41 photographs for the exhibit. The Pequot museum collected regalia, along with images from its Schemitzun powwow.

The exhibit runs through September 9.
