Reservation flood damage being assessed

Tribal, state and federal officials are assessing flood damage on three reservations in Montana..

The Crow Reservation, the Northern Cheyenne Reservation and the Fort Peck Reservation were hit by heavy rains and hail. The Crow Tribe has tallied at least $3 million in damage.

The tribes Federal Emergency Management Agency and the state Disaster and Emergency Services will use the information to help Gov. Brian Schweitzer (D) determine whether to ask for a disaster declaration. The Crow Tribe has criticized Schweitzer for not responding quickly enough.
