Canadian man who kidnapped Native boy pleads guilty

A Canadian man was sentenced to life in prison on Monday after pleading guilty to abducting and sexually assaulting two boys.

Peter Whitmore, a known sex offender, kidnapped a 14-year-old Native boy and a 10-year-old non-Native boy last summer. The boys were recovered after a standoff with police in Saskatchewan.

The plea agreement allows Whitmore to be eligible for parole in seven years. The deal prevents the boys from having to testify, a judge said.
