Fake tribe offers membership to Mexican nationals

A group calling itself the Kaweah Indian Nation is charging upwards of $300 for membership, which it claims can help Mexican nationals gain U.S. citizenship.

The Nebraska Mexican-American Commission issued a fraud alert after hearing about the same. The Nebraska Attorney General's Office is also investigating, The Omaha World-Herald reported.

The group defends its offer though Malcolm Webber, who calls himself Grand Chief Thunderbird IV, said memberships usually cost $100 per family. "There's always a bad egg in the basket," he told the paper.
