Aide to former Rep. Bob Ney faces sentencing

Will Heaton, the former chief of staff to former Rep. Bob Ney (R-Ohio), awaits sentencing on Wednesday for his role in the Jack Abramoff scandal.

Heaton helped secure Ney's guilty plea, according to federal prosecutors. They say he wore a wire, secretly recorded conversations with his former boss and other colleagues and provided important documents.

Heaton admits he accepted gifts from Abramoff -- including a trip to Scotland -- but is asking for leniency. He pleaded guilty in February, before Ney began his prison 30-month prison sentence.

Ney admitted he accepted gifts from Abramoff and campaign contributions Abramoff's tribal clients. He tried to take legislative action to benefit two tribes in Texas.
