Theresa Lamebull, oldest Gros Ventre, dies at 111

Theresa Lamebull, who was believed to be the oldest living member of the Gros Ventre Tribe of Montana, died last Friday. She was 111.

Lamebull turned 111 on April 19. Family members didn't know how old she was until they had her baptismal certificate translated from Latin.

Lamebull was a fluent speaker of Gros Ventre and helped teach the language and develop a dictionary. She is survived by five children, 32 grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren and 62 great-great grandchildren.
