Syphilis outbreak affects Tohono O'odham Nation

Tribal, state and federal health workers are trying to prevent a further outbreak of syphilis on the Tohono O'odham Nation in Arizona.

So far this year, there have been 46 cases on the reservation. Most are of young people.

This is the first syphilis outbreak to hit the reservation, a spokesman for the Indian Health Service said.
