Tuesday, September 11, 2007

One on the federal prosecutors who tried the case against American Indian Movement activist Leonard Peltier was killed in a car accident in Iowa last Friday.

Robert Sikma apparently lost control of his vehicle when it crashed near Sioux City. His passenger died.

Sikma was one of three prosecutors in the case against Peltier, who was convicted of murdering two FBI agents on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Peltier has been serving two life sentences since 1977.
