Morongo Band signs law enforcement deal

The Morongo Band of Mission Indians has signed a law enforcement contract with the Sheriff's Department in Riverside County, California.

The deal calls for the county to provide 34 man-hours a day of law enforcement services. Officers will make regular patrols of the 32,000-acre reservation.

The tribe is paying $994,000 for the first year of the contract, which includes four-wheel drive patrol units, radios and mobile data computers.
