First Native in Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame

Vernon Tsoodle, a member of the Kiowa Tribe, will be the first Native American in the Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame.

Tsoodle spent nearly 25 years in the U.S. Marines. He served in Korea and Vietnam but remains humble about his military career.

"I didn't do anything outstanding, like win a Congressional Medal," he tells his niece, Neely Tsoodle of KSWO News. "I just did my duty."

In 1996, Tsoodle helped create the Native American Marine Corps Veterans Organization, the first group of its kind.

The induction ceremony takes place this evening at Oklahoma City University.
