Rumsey chair named to state Native commission

Marshall McKay, the chairman of the Rumsey Rancheria, has been named to the California Native American Heritage Commission.

McKay, 55, said he was honored by the nomination. " I look forward to carrying on her commitment and working with this dedicated team to protect the precious cultural sites of our ancestors," he said.

McKay has served as chairman of the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians since 2006.
