Ex-Rep. Hayworth says Abramoff probe axed
Friday, December 7, 2007

Ex. Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R-Arizona) says the Department of Justice is no longer investigating his ties to convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

Hayworth was defeated last November amid reports of his Abramoff connections. He received $101,620 from Abramoff, nine of Abramoff's tribal clients and a casino company, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

Hayworth was the co-chairman of the Congressional Native American Caucus at the time of his defeat.
