Blackfeet woman named to Montana Corrections

Myrna Kuka, a member of the Blackfeet Nation, has been named the American Indian liaison for the Montana Department of Corrections.

Kuka will ensure Indian inmates' cultural needs are met. About 18 percent of inmates are Indian, compared to about 6.3 percent of the state population.

Kuka also will seek to increase the number of Indian employees in the corrections system. She has been serving as the Indian cultural officer for the department.
