Taos Pueblo exiles husband of tribal member

Taos Pueblo in northern New Mexico has exiled the husband of a tribal member after an incident involving the children of two tribal leaders.

Jon Ricketson was removed from his home on the reservation on December 29. He said he wasn't allowed to take any possessions with him.

“This is a blatant abuse of power,” Ricketson told The Taos News. “This is a vendetta, basically.”

Ricketson and his wife, LuVerne Concha, who is a tribal member, said the removal was based on politics. The order came from Gov. Gilbert Suazo, whose son allegedly tried to steal firewood from Ricketson's home in early December. The son of Lt. Gov. Fredrick Lujan was also involved.
