Tanka Bar a big hit for South Dakota company

A small company based on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota has a big hit on its hands with the Tanka Bar.

Native American Natural Foods launched the bison meat and cranberry energy bar last fall. Demand has been extremely high for the snack, which is based on a traditional Lakota food called wasna.

The bar is currently manufactured by a processing plant in Nebraska. Entrepreneurs Mark Tilsen and Karlene Hunter are brining in another plant to meet the demand.

Tilsen and Hunter also plan to offer other healthy snacks and turn their company into a $10 million business in five years.
