Bemidji State seeks Indian center director

Bemidji State University in Minnesota is seeking a new director for its American Indian Resource Center.

Joe Aitken, a member of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, who was serving as interim director, is retiring on Friday. He spent most of his career at the Minnesota Indian Scholarship Program before he went to BSU.

“Although I worked for the state of Minnesota, Indian students were always my main concern," Aitken told The Bemidji Pioneer.

BSU is creating a search committee to find a new director.
