Kalispel Tribe seeks funds for new bridge

The Kalispel Tribe of Washington is lobbying for funds to replace the main bridge to its reservation.

Built in 1964, the Usk Bridge crosses the Pend Oreille River. Without it, the tribe and its member would have a hard time getting to and from the reservation.

With bridge conditions worsening, tribal and local officials say they need money immediately. "We're to the point now where we're desperate," a local official told The Spokesman Review.
