Clinton and Obama share Super Tuesday victories

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-New York) and Sen. Barack Obama (D-Illinois) remain in a close race after sharing presidential primary victories on Super Tuesday.

Clinton and Obama each won four major states. Clinton had California, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York while Obama had Connecticut, Georgia, Minnesota and Illinois.

Clinton also won Arizona and Oklahoma, two states with high percentages of Native Americans. Obama won Alaska, Idaho, Utah, Colorado and North Dakota, which also have significant Native populations.

In New Mexico, Clinton is leading Obama by a very close margin. After Alaska, the state has the highest percentage of American Indians and Alaska Natives.

Clinton has the support of major Navajo leaders. According to The Farmington Daily Times, she won San Juan County, home to part of the Navajo Nation.

While Obama won more states, Clinton appears to have won more delegates. The next major battles take place in Texas and Ohio on March 4.
