Native artist sentenced to probation for filming

A Native artist was sentenced to community service and unsupervised probation for one year for filming inside Yosemite National Park in California.

Lorenzo Baca, who is Pueblo and Apache, was found guilty for doing business without a permit and for trespassing on a cultural resource. He filmed a short film at Yosemite featuring tribal dances.

Baca, 60, was previously sued by the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians for a recording he made of a tribal ceremony. He agreed to turn over copies of his recording.
