Nathan Hale, Three Affiliated vice chair, dies at 58

Nathan Hale, the vice chairman of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation, also known as the Three Affiliated Tribes of North Dakota, died on Monday. He was 58.

Hale served on the tribal council starting in 2004. He spend most of his time on health projects.

"Vice chairman Hale was a wise and gifted leader, whose insight and direction gave each of us new perspectives on the issues confronting the tribes today. I am honored to have served with him. Our prayers are with his family," Chairman Marcus Wells Jr said.

Hale worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs for 22 years. He also worked as transportation director for the tribe.
