Indian lawmaker rescinds Obama endorsement

Montana Rep. Margarett Campbell, a member of the Assiniboine Tribe, was forced to rescind her endorsement of Sen. Barack Obama (D-Illinois) for president.

Party rules in the state require Campbell, who is vice chair of the state Democratic party, to remain neutral. But she told the Associated Press that she still supports Obama.

Campbell is one of three Indian superdelegates for the Democratic party. Frank LaMere, a member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, is supporting Obama. Kalyn Free, a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, has not publicly stated which way she will vote.
