An 18-year-old and a 15-year-old have been charged in connection with a drive-by shooting that left a 23-month-old toddler in critical condition.
Christopher Shane Crane, 18, faces 16 charges for Sunday night's shooting on the
Samson Cree Nation in Alberta. The 15-year-old faces 15 charges.
Crane is reportedly part of a Native gang called the Red Soldiers. The gang has reportedly been fighting the Samson True Soldiers, whose members are related to 23-month-old Asia Saddleback.
Saddleback is in critical but stable condition at Stollery Children's hospital in Edmonton. She underwent surgery after being hit by a bullet.
The shooting was the 12th incident of gun violence on the reserve in the last three weeks. Authorities say 13 gangs are fighting over the drug trade in the area. Crane's older brother has been charged in connection with some gang activity.
