National day of protest in Canada on May 29

Assembly of First Nations Chief Phil Fontaine called for a national day of protest on May 29 to draw attention to Native issues in Canada.

Fontaine said the protest will be peaceful. He says the day is needed because the government doesn't listen to First Nations.

"We’re ignored. Our proposals are dismissed. They're not taken seriously. Our efforts to establish a healthy respectful relationship with this government obviously are not compelling enough," Fontaine said, CBC News reported.
