Spirit Lake Nation dedicates waste station

The Spirit Lake Nation of North Dakota dedicated a $2.2 million solid waste transfer station on Thursday.

The station means the tribe won't have to haul waste 13 miles away to Devils Lake. The reservation's dump closed back in 1997.

The project was funded with $1 million from the Department of Agriculture's Rural Development agency and $1.1 million from the Indian Health Service and the tribe.
