Canada to deliver Native apology this afternoon

Prime Minister Stephen Harper will deliver an apology on behalf of the Canadian government to former students of Native residential schools.
The apology takes place in the House of Commons at 3pm EST. A webcast can be viewed at
http://www.parl.gc.ca/common/webcast.asp.
The apology is part of a $1.9 billion settlement. Former students were compensated for attending schools, where physical, sexual and emotional abuse were common. The
Indian
Residential Schools Truth and Reconciliation Commission will provide a national forum to start the healing process.
