Indian student allowed eagle feathers at graduation

An Indian student in North Carolina will be allowed to wear two eagle feathers to his graduation ceremony next month.
Corey Bird, 18, is Lumbee and Sisseton-Wahpehton. He is wearing the feathers in honor of his late mother and late grandfather.
The Robeson County school board was told other schools in the state allow students to wear symbols during graduation exercises if they are linked to religious beliefs. The American Civil Liberties Union wants the board to change the policy to include the use of eagle feathers.
Bird's cousin, Olivia Bird, also plans to wear eagle feathers for her graduation.
